Transition Program

Our Term 4 School Readiness Program (formally ‘Pre Prep’) runs each year during Term 4.

Transition from Home to School for Foundation Students (Preps)

Cobains Primary School thoroughly prepares our students both for settling in to the primary setting. We maintain close links with our local kinders, and transition days take place throughout the year.

Our Term 4 School Readiness Program (formally ‘Pre Prep’) which runs during Term 4 prepares our prospective foundation students for school. There is a lot parents can do to help their child’s transition from home to starting school. There are suggestions listed in the Parent Information Booklet.

Transition to from Primary School to Secondary College

We maintain a close relationship with local pre-schools and secondary schools so that the transition to new schools is as smooth as possible.  Year 6 students have regular visits to the school of their choice for Year 7 and secondary school staff visit Cobains PS to get a good understanding of the strengths and particular needs of our students before they arrive on their doorsteps.

During term 4 we have pre-school visitors on a regular basis as they prepare for their big move to primary school.  This ensures that our youngest students start the year with great confidence as well as excitement.

Year 6 Graduation Dinner

The Year 6 Graduation Dinner celebrates the successful completion of primary education. It is an opportunity to farewell to our Grade 6 students and recognise their achievements through the presentation of awards.

School Transfers

Before a child moves to another school, parents must inform the class teacher and the office so that a transfer note and pupil files can be prepared and forwarded to the new school.
